Lol I'm not sure I'm the best person to explain paper sizes, 'cos I tend to make everything sound confusing, but here's a shot:

Sooo basically paper sizes run from A6* to A0, A6 being the smallest, and then each size is double that of the previous size. So for example, two sheets of A6 gives you an A5, and so on. The most common size is A4 which I would guess is similar to Letter size for you.

* Wikipedia is telling me that there are sizes smaller than A6, but I've never come across them, and really A5 is probably the smallest you will encounter in any situation.
